Growing up in the hills overlooking Lake Constance in Switzerland, we spent much of our youth together learning the value of natural beauty and friendliness of the people around us. After realizing how much we had in common, we set out to form a lasting life together, both as husband and wife and also in our calling in life.

With hard work and zeal to offer the highest level of quality, we first opened and managed a very successful butcher shop which then grew into a leading purveyor of fine wines and a catering business in North Switzerland. Our attention to detail and quality became apparent not only to the local community, but gained the respect of the regional hoteliers and restaurateurs alike. Realizing our talents, we have also been operating a seasonal restaurant in our native Switzerland during the summer months there.

Combining our experiences and dreams, we set out travelling the globe searching for a unique place that would embody the beauty of its natural surroundings in its hospitality.

The Accommodation

Our classic and contemporary designed rooms all have their own shower en-suite facilities.

Arum Room (Ground Floor Ocean View Suite)

The ground floor Ocean View room which opens out onto a private deck. The room incorporates a small seating area and has a private bathroom consisting of a shower as well as a spa bath.

First Floor Ocean View Rooms

Our two first floor Ocean View Rooms, known as the Pacific and Crews rooms, are situated on the first floor of the main building with their own separate entrance.

As a guest you will be able to sit on your own private balcony and admire the striking views of the ocean and mountains. It has been said by previous guests that these views must be some of the most spectacular on offer in Kaikoura. Occasionally dolphins can be seen swimming in the bay in the early morning.

Garden Rooms

The Garden Rooms: Beech, Fern and Pohutukawa. Two of these rooms are situated within a relaxing garden setting; the other is situated within the main building. All have their own private deck where on warming mornings your freshly prepared Continental breakfast will be served to you and in the evening you can relax and watch the wonderful Kaikoura night skies.

All our rooms are furnished with colour TV and DVDs, hairdryers, mini fridges, bathrobes, heating, ceiling fans, tea and coffee facilities, which includes fresh ground coffee (especially packaged for us). Chilled drinking water, chocolate and fresh fruit have also been provided to make your stay as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

Relax in the evening either on your own deck or feel free to join us on the viewing deck at the front of the property. We would love to chat and hear about all your experiences and memories on your holiday to date travelling around New Zealand.
